Care instructions for cotton towels
To maintain the softness, color, and absorbency of your cotton towels, follow these tips:
Before first use
Always wash your new towels before first use. This removes excess fibers and optimizes absorbency.
First wash:
- Wash at 30°C or 40°C
- No fabric softener - this reduces absorbency. Add a splash of vinegar to the fabric softener compartment for color fixation.
- Wash separately from other laundry for the first 2-3 washes.
- Tumble dry on a low heat, or remove them slightly damp.
- Shake towels before use.
Why wash separately?
Organic cotton sheds slightly more than regular cotton—that's normal. Because it hasn't been chemically treated, loose fibers from the production process are released. This does not affect the quality.
Daily maintenance
Washing:
- Wash at 30-40°C with similar colours
- Use mild detergent
- No fabric softener - this reduces absorbency
- Shake out towels after washing for optimal softness
Drying:
- Tumble dry on low heat
- For longer lifespan: air dry
- Avoid excessively high temperatures—this damages the fibres
Additional tips:
- Occasionally add a splash of vinegar to the rinse water—this removes soap residue and keeps the towel soft
- Wash separately from clothes with zippers or Velcro to prevent wear and tear
- Do not bleach with chlorine
- Ironing not necessary (and reduces absorbency)
Extra tips
- Do not bleach with chlorine.
- Avoid ironing, as this damages the fibres and reduces absorbency.
- Wash cotton towels separately from clothes with zippers or Velcro to prevent wear and tear.
- Add a small amount of vinegar to the rinse water occasionally; this removes soap residue and keeps the towel soft.
